ONE Austin is the city chapter for The ONE Campaign.
What is the ONE Campaign?
ONE is an international 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is fighting to end extreme poverty in the poorest parts of the world. Overall, ONE's three million+ members around the world take action. They click petitions, make phone calls, write letters, attend rallies – to demand solutions from their governments. Your voice alone may struggle to be heard, but our voices together are hard to ignore.
How do we do things here in Austin?
ONE Austin raises awareness through creative events (like this) with nonprofits, musicians, and artists to fight poverty locally and globally. We believe in the idea of synergy and so come together to raise awareness through events like World AIDS Day, World Water Day, and community trainings.
We also advocate to our elected leaders (Congressmen and US Senators) by having conversations with them, sending letters to them, and simply engaging them in our events. We make sure that they understand why it's important to us for them to continue supporting life-changing, poverty fighting programs.
What is ONE ATX?
The fact is that this generation -- yours, my generation ... we're the first generation that can look at poverty and disease, look across the ocean to Africa and say with a straight face, we can be the first to end this sort of stupid extreme poverty, where in the world of plenty, a child can die for lack of food in it's belly.

Overall, we believe and stand together on the belief that we can, and WILL, end extreme poverty. We believe that we will... see a day where no child will be born with HIV/AIDS,
where no family dies from starvation or malnutrition, where a young woman can pursue an education.
We use innovative campaigns.
We fight using our voice.
We know we can make a difference.
